Frequently Asked Questions

Can you match my current front door but make a new one?

Yes! We can usually match your current design and make a new one.

Can you replace the bottom sill to my sash window?

If you have a builder that can bring the item to the workshop, we may be able to help with this. We will not be able to come out to this type of job.

Is the wood you use responsibly sourced?

Yes, we only work with suppliers that use FSC Certified Timber. We are very aware of the importance of ensuring that our suppliers obtain their timber from sustainably managed forest resources. Such resources ensure that timber remains one of the most renewable, natural and environmentally friendly of standard building materials. Our Suppliers only use FSC certified timber.

How long does it take to make my windows?

The normal lead-in time would be 6-8 weeks from receipt of deposit.

Can you make a new frame for my old front door?

No, we would normally recommend that doors and frames are made together so that they weather and wear at the same rate.

I would like a special type of wood. Can you help?

Yes! We are happy to explore with you sourcing the kind of wood you want to use. We have several reputable suppliers that we work with who have many years of experience.

What does our FENSA Membership Say About Us?

FENSA stands for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme. It is a government-authorised scheme in the UK that monitors building regulation compliance for replacement windows and doors.

What is UK Timber Regulation?

Timber supply chains are regulated to ensure harvesting practices are legal, to encourage sustainable harvesting practices, and to support global forest governance. Businesses trading in timber and timber products must take steps to ensure that they originate from legal sources. At F&E Joinery, we ensure our timber suppliers follow all of the regulations, some of which include ensuring that all of our timber is purchased from FSC certified suppliers and ensuring records are retained regarding the purchase and sale of our timber.
